Hearing God's voice, knowing His character

A very short word from Brother Don this morning. When I woke up, I had many issues on my mind, I prayed about them, as I felt troubled. Whilst my mind was in a state of flux, I thought I would seek a word from the Bible. I had no peace about me and took the first word that I heard in the spirit; however, there are many voices speaking in the spirit and if you do not familiarise yourself with the voice (1 kings 19:1-18 - Passage Lookup - Amplified Bible - then it is easy to be misled.

I experienced something of this nature this morning, as the word I latched onto in some way’s could have related to some of my situation, but the tester for me was that it did not match the many things God had spoken beforehand  both directly to me and by confirmation from other Godly people. Secondly, it did match the character of God (such as making a u-turn on such an issue as this) and finally, the peace of God was not there.

It was after meditating on this issue clarity came to my spirit and I began to rebuke the father of lies, the deceiver, the adversary of the brethren and then the peace of God came and enveloped me like a flood.

The following link is to the prophet Samuel as a child, hearing God’s voice for the first time.

I leave you with the sobering reminder for 1 Peter chapter 5 (from the Bible)

1 Peter 5:6-11 (Amplified Bible)
6Therefore humble yourselves [demote, lower yourselves in your own estimation] under the mighty hand of God, that in due time He may exalt you,
7Casting the [a]whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, [b]once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you [c]watchfully.(A)
8Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [[d]in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour.
9Withstand him; be firm in faith [against his onset--rooted, established, strong, immovable, and determined], knowing that the same ([e]identical) sufferings are appointed to your brotherhood (the whole body of Christians) throughout the world.
10And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace [Who imparts all blessing and favor], Who has called you to His [own] eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will Himself complete and make you what you ought to be, establish and ground you securely, and strengthen, and settle you.
11To Him be the dominion (power, authority, rule) forever and ever. Amen (so be it).

Learn to her Father Gods voice and know His character, as at times it may only be knowing His character (which comes by reading His word and spending time in worship and conversation) that will keep you on the right track.

Love Brother Don
